UPPSC Prelims Syllabus for UPPCS Exams - UPPSC 2024
Overview:-
Dear Students, First of all , I want to tell you about UPPSC, That is Known as Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission ,
Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission , commonly abbreviated as UPPSC, is Uttar Pradesh's state agency for recruitment of all the entry-level appointments to the various Group A and Group B Civil Services of Uttar Pradesh.The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the PCS exam every year. Through the UPPSC PCS Group A and Group B Officers are selected for the administrative services of the state government. The exam is conducted in three stages.
Stages to Clear/Crack UPPSC Exam :-
The UPPSC conducts the PCS Exam in three stages:-
First - Prelims – 2 papers – objective type questions (Mcqs)
Second - Mains – 8 papers – essay/descriptive type.
Third - Interview.
UPPSC Prelims paper 2 ( CSAT ) is qualifying :-
The UPPSC Paper 2 (CSAT) is qualifying in nature. A candidate needs to score at least 33% of the total marks in the CSAT paper.
Duration of Papers in Prelims Exams :-
Both papers conducted on the same day, they are of two hours each
Timings of Papers in Prelims Exams :-
Paper I - 9:30 to 11:30 AM
Paper-II - 2:30 to 4:30 PM
Maximum Marks :-
Both Papers will be of 200 marks each.
Number of Questions :-
Paper-I: - 150 questions
Paper-II: - 100 questions
Type of Exam :-
Offline (Pen-paper) OMR sheets
Selection Process in UPPSC :-
The candidates are arranged in a merit list based on their UPPCS main exam marks. The candidates, twice the number of vacancies, are selected for the UPPCS interviews and the marks of the last selected candidates become the cutoff for the candidates. The cut-off is calculated for each category separately.

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
Paper-Ist
General Studies-I
Current events of national and international importance
=> On Current Events of National and International Importance, candidates will be expected to have knowledge about them.
History of India and Indian National Movement
=> In History emphasis should be on broad understanding of social, economic and political aspects of Indian History. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of independence.
India and World geography- Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World
=> In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.
Indian Polity and governance- Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues etc.
=> In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of the country's political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian culture.
Economic and Social Development- Sustainable Development, Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
=> The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and relationships between Population, Environment and Urbanisation.
6. General Issues on Environmental ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change
=> that does not require subject specialization.General awareness of the subject is expected from candidates.
7. General Science
=> Questions on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science including matters of everyday observation
and experience, as may be expected of a well educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
Note: - Candidates are expected to have general awareness about the above subjects with special reference to Uttar Pradesh.

Algebra :-
(i) Factors of polynomials, L.C.M. and H.C.F. of polynomials and their interrelationship, Remainder theorem, simultaneous linear
equations, quadratic equations.
(ii) Set Theory:- Set, null set, subsets and proper subsets of a set, operations (Union, Intersections, difference,
symmetric difference) between sets, venn diagram.
Geometry:-
(i) Constructions and theorems regarding triangle, rectangle, square, trapezium and circles, their perimeter and area.
(ii) Volume
and surface area of sphere, right circular cylinder, right circular Cone and Cube.
Statistics:-
Collection of data, Classification of data, frequency, frequency distribution, tabulation, cumulative frequency.
Representation of data :-
Bar diagram, Pie chart, histogram, frequency polygon, cumulative frequency curves (ogives)
Measures of Central tendency:-
Arithmetic Mean, Median and Mode
General English ( Upto Class X Level )
