Rahul Gandhi (born 19 June 1970) is a former member of the Indian Parliament who served the Lok Sabha constituencies of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, and Wayanad, Kerala. He is a member of the Indian National Congress, the major opposition party, and served as its president from December 2017 to July 2019. He is the president of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India, as well as a member of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust.
On March 23, 2023, he was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison by a Gujarat judge for statements made in a 2019 defamation case for remarks made against the Modi community in a speech delivered against the Prime Minister.
Which if upheld, would also disqualify him from contesting in the 2024 Indian general election.
Currently , the Wayanad ( Kerala ) Lok Sabha seat was declared vacant after Rahul Gandhi's disqualification.

Rahul Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970, to Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi is the Chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students' Union of India, both of which have significant responsibilities. He earlier served as the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee. Rahul Gandhi has been a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing the Amethi parliamentary district in Uttar Pradesh since 2004. Rahul Gandhi was appointed Vice President of the Indian National Congress in January 2013, before becoming the party's leader on December 16, 2017. Early Life of Rahul Gandhi :-
Rahul Gandhi was born in New Delhi and spent his early childhood between Delhi and Dehradun, staying out of the public eye for much of his childhood and early adolescence. He received his primary schooling in New Delhi and Dehradun before being homeschooled due to security concerns. He started his college studies at St. Stephen's College before transferring to Harvard University. Later, due to security concerns following the assassination of his father, late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he moved to Rollins College in Florida, where he graduated in 1994. The following year, he received his M.Phil. from Cambridge. Following graduation, he started his professional career with the Monitor Group, a London-based management consulting firm. He quickly moved to India and founded the Mumbai-based technology outsourcing firm,Backops Services Private Ltd.

Rahul Gandhi attended St. Columbus' School in New Delhi before enrolling in The Doon School of Dehradun in the state of Uttarakhand from 1981 to 1983. Rahul Gandhi declared his entry into Indian politics in March 2004. Rahul Gandhi won the Amethi constituency of his father, Late Rajiv Gandhi, with an overwhelming margin of more than one lakh ballots. Soon after, in his first interview with foreign media as a political candidate, Rahul Gandhi vocally condemned the divisive politics of the other parties, promising to commit himself to becoming a binding force among all communities and parties, easing the strains caused by caste and faith issues. Rahul Gandhi was named General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee on September 24th, during a reorganization of the party secretariats.
